Elderly express joy over free eye treatment in Bhojpur

Bhojpur, May 12: A total of 73 eye surgeries were performed during a two-day eye health camp held in Ghodetar, the center of Hatuwagadhi Rural Municipality in southern Bhojpur district. Organized by the Hatuwagadhi Eye Treatment Center Ghodetar under the Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh, the camp provided eye check-ups to 305 people.

The camp offered free surgical services for cataracts and pterygium (flesh growth in the eye). With technical assistance from Biratnagar Eye Hospital, the initiative brought relief to economically disadvantaged patients by offering care near their homes, said rural municipality chairperson Prem Kumar Rai.

He noted, “These local health programs have been helping those who cannot afford treatment elsewhere due to financial constraints.”

Bijay Tamang, head of the Hatuwagadhi Eye Treatment Center, stated that the eye camps have proven effective in rural areas. “Because the camps involve treatment by specialist doctors, they provide essential services to people who would otherwise be deprived due to financial hardships,” he said.

The provision of free eye check-ups, treatment, and surgeries in the villages has sparked enthusiasm among locals. Elderly individuals were especially joyful after regaining their vision through surgery. #eye #surgery #nepal
