KATHMANDU: Preparations for National Assembly elections scheduled for January 26, 2022, have been accelerated.
The Election Commission is publishing a notice on Thursday to the parties willing to participate in the election for registration of the parties. Election is being held for post of 19 members, which are going to fall vacant on coming March 4.
Election programme and schedule has already been shared in this connection. EC Spokesperson Saligram Sharma said that internal preparations for the election have been expedited as per the election programme and schedule.
The time for registration of parties is from December 16-25. The term of eight members of the CPN (UML), four of the CPN (Unified Socialist), four of CPN (Maoist Centre) and three of the Nepali Congress is coming to an end.
There is a schedule to publish voters name list on January 1 while candidacies should be filed on January 4. The election is going to be held for seven women, three Dalits, two persons with disabilities or marginalized community and seven from other groups.
Similarly, term of Ram Narayan Bidari, nominated by the President on the recommendation of the government as the expert, is also terminating on March 4. The election symbol would be provided to the candidates on January 9.
The candidates would get time from January 9 -25 for their campaigning. Election would take place from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm on January 26, according to the EC.
