Election Commission registers 1,77,33,723 voters for local level election

KATHMANDU: A total of 1,77,33,723 voters have been registered for the local level election to be held on April 13.

According to Surya Prasad Aryal, Assistant Spokesperson of the Election Commission of Nepal, today’s meeting of the Election Commission has approved the voter lists in which 89,92,010 are male and 87,41,530 female voters.

According to the Commission, Morang district has the highest number of voters at 715,223 while Manang has the lowest number of voters at 6,416. The districts with the highest number of voters are Morang, Jhapa and Kathmandu while the districts with the lowest number of voters are Manang, Mustang and Dolpa.

A new arrangement has been made this time that the voters who will reach the age of 18 on coming April 12, 2022 will be eligible to cast their votes.

Aryal informed that 10,756 polling stations and 21,955 polling booths have been set up for the election.

Meanwhile, the Commission has assigned and deputed the Chief District Election Officers and other staff for the forthcoming election.
