KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that the Election Commission’s preparations for the election are not good.

Speaking at a literary and cultural program organized on the occasion of the 71st National Democracy Day on Friday, Prime Minister Oli complained that the preparation of the Election Commission for the election was not good. He said that the people were not aware of the preparations of the Election Commission.

He also said that the Election Commission should prepare for the election on time so that the people know about it. He said that the election body should prepare for the election in time.

Prime Minister Oli said, “After recommending the dissolution of the House of Representatives on the December 20, I called the Election Commission in the next morning and asked it to prepare for the election two months and one day in advance. I went there some days ago and inquired about the preparation. They said ‘we are preparing’ but the election program has not been published. Nothing has happened.”

He further said, “What the EC is doing does not look so good. The people do not seem to aware much about the preparations of the Election Commission. I want to clear that the present government is fully committed to carry out the election on stipulated time.”

Prime Minister Oli said that the constitution would not be violated when elections are held. He asked, “Elections will be held in April/May, a government will be formed and where is the constitutional violation?”
