KATHMANDU, Nov 25: The government has decided to postpone the election of the official trade union of civil servants.

A meeting of the Council of Ministers held at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar on Wednesday has decided to postpone the election scheduled for November 12.

“The election of the official trade union of civil servants has been postponed for now,” said Parbat Gurung, Minister of Communications and Information Technology and spokesperson of the government.

Earlier, the government had decided to hold the election on September 8, but it was postponed due to the risk of covid infection. Before that, the trade union election was supposed to be held on June 3. Elections have been postponed due to the risk of coronavirus.
