Surkhet, Aug 14: An electricity transmission line substation with a capacity of 33/11 kV has been constructed at Chaukha, Nalgad Municipality-12 of Jajarkot.
The substation has been constructed with an investment of Rs 100 million of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA). Waiba Infra-tech Pvt Ltd had signed an agreement with NEA for the construction of the substation.
Senior surveyor of the Waiba Infra-tech Pvt Ltd, Karun Shahi said the goal is to charge the substation within a month. The substation would be charged using the electricity transmitted from the Bafikot substation, as the transmission line from Kudu of Jajarkot is not yet connected to Chaukha.
There is the compulsion of using the electricity from the Bafikot-based substation for charging the Chaukha substation as the work on extension of the transmission line in Jajarkot section have been stalled for long.
Public pressure has now built up for the construction of the transmission line in Jajarkot section with the construction of the Chaukha substation which is located close by the powerhouse of Taksugad Hydropower Project.
Power line would be connected from the Chaukha substation to the 106-megawatt- capacity Jagadulla Hydroelectricity Project and to the substation to be constructed at Tripurakot of Dolpa.
NEA Karnali Province Office said that the Chaukha substation will facilitate in electrification of lower belt of Dolpa and most of the places of eastern Jajarkot.
