Electrocution kills husband, wife injured in Jhapa

Jhapa, Aug 23: District Police Office Jhapa informed that a resident of Arjundhara Municipality-9 died due to electrocution this afternoon.

District Police Office Jhapa spokesman Khagendra Rijal said that 24-year-old Amrit Regmi died while trying to save his 22-year-old wife Mamta Regmi after she was suddenly electrocuted by a fodder cutting machine.

According to him, he was also electrocuted while trying to save Mamta after she was electrocuted. He said that Amrit died on the way while taking both of them who were injured due to electric shock to Shankar Hospital in Shanischare for treatment.

Mamta’s condition is moderate and she is currently undergoing treatment at B&C Hospital in Birtamod. Amrit’s body has been sent to Mechi  Hospital, Bhadrapur for post-mortem, police said.

The Regmi family, whose permanent home is Ilam Municipality, has been temporarily living in Arjundhara-9 Kathardanda.
