Enthusiasm in voting, largely peaceful across the country (Photo Feature)

KATHMANDU: City markets are deserted. It seems that there is no one in the streets and squares of Kathmandu which used to be very busy. Even shopkeepers seem to have leisure time.

As there is a public holiday for four days from today, people have free time. This opportunity has been created by the local level election. When the voters reach their homes and villages for the election of the local government which will be connected to the people’s house, it looks like the bride’s house in Kathmandu Valley.

The local body election, held after five years, has witnessed largely peaceful. In some parts of the country, election related violence has marred the polling, and suspended the election process. But these cases are very few.

According to Election Commission of Nepal, the voter turnout looks very enthusiastic and nearly 35 percent have cast their vote by noon.
