Kathmandu, July 2: A high-level committee formed by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology under the leadership of former Secretary Shanker Koirala has suggested to bring into the legal ambit the constituent academic institutions being operated in Nepal under the affiliation of foreign educational institutions.
In the report of the ‘Expert Committee- 2081 BS’ that was constituted to study such affiliations, the committee has recommended that the institutions should be brought within the purview of the legislation and the educational institutions not coming under law should be shut down.
The Council of Ministers meeting held on last April 26 had formed the committee. The report of the committee was made public through the ministry’s website today.
Presently, 32 ‘A level’ and 59 undergraduate and postgraduate educational institutions are being operated under the affiliation of foreign educational institutions.
