Export rise in first five months in current FY

Kathmandu, Dec 23: After a long period of negative trends, foreign trade has recently seen a positive development. Data released by the Customs Department shows that imports increased by 3 percent, while exports rose by 16.5 percent in the first five months (Saun-Mangsir) of the current fiscal year.

The total export value in these five months was Rs 73.20 billion, compared to Rs 63.54 billion in the same period last fiscal year.

However, Nepal experienced a trade loss of Rs 587 billion in the first five months of this fiscal year, an increase of 4.21 percent from the previous year.

The largest import category was petroleum products, with Nepal importing Rs 42.17 billion worth during this period. #nepal #export
