Kathmandu, May 1: The Nepal Law Society and the Rural Development Foundation have offered policy support and financial help to the leprosy affected families to uphold their legal and fundamental rights.
Today, the Foundation provided the financial assistance to 25 individuals suffering the leprosy. Each of them got Rs 20,000.
Krishna Man Pradhan, chairman of the Foundation, stated that this initiative was made possible through the recommendation of 12 organizations dedicated to advocating for the rights of leprosy-suffering individuals.
It is estimated that there are approximately 200,000 people affected by leprosy across the country.
The Foundation informed that upon receiving this financial support, these individuals are prepared to engage in business activities to sustain their livelihoods. The chairman stressed change in legal and social perspectives towards those suffering this illness.
Leprosy is a chronic infectious disease. It is caused by bacteria named Mycobacterium leprae. It affects skin and peripheral nerve. #nepal #rss
