Kathmandu, Oct 22: Fly Dubai, the national carrier of Dubai, will begin daily flights to Bhairahawa-based Gautam Buddha International Airport (GBIA) from November 10.

Bookings for the Dubai-Bhairahawa-Kathmandu route are now open. According to Pratap Babu Tiwari, the airport’s General Manager, Fly Dubai’s aircraft will arrive in Bhairahawa at 1:45 PM and depart for Kathmandu at 2:45 PM, where it will have a one-hour technical stop before continuing to Dubai.

Fly Dubai has received authorization from the aviation authority to drop off passengers in Bhairahawa and pick up those traveling abroad, with a one-hour halt in Kathmandu. Tickets and further information can be found on Fly Dubai’s website.

This will be the airline’s inaugural flight to the airport. Fly Dubai plans to operate flights to and from Dubai and Bhairahawa seven days a week. With this addition, Fly Dubai now operates to 113 destinations across 53 countries.

Additionally, Jazeera Airways will resume operations from October 28, after a ten-month hiatus. The airline will operate flights three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, arriving in Bhairahawa at 7:30 AM and departing for Kuwait at 8:30 AM.

Thai AirAsia is also planning to begin flights from Gautam Buddha International Airport soon, with its technical team having recently visited the airport.

The government aims to fully operationalize both Gautam Buddha and Pokhara International Airports, and necessary administrative processes for customs, immigration, and security are reportedly in place.

This significant achievement is credited to the Prime Minister’s directives, support from the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, initiatives by the Chief Secretary, and coordination with the Universal Tours and Travels, the general sales agent for Fly Dubai in Nepal.

The government has initiated processes with a plan to fully operationalize the Gautam Buddha International Airport and Pokhara International Airport, both of which are national pride projects. #Bhairahawa #airport #nepal
