Foreign Minister Dr Arzu courtesy meeting with Indian PM Modi



Kathmandu, Aug 19: Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba, who is in New Delhi during her official visit to India, had a courtesy meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday evening.

According to the sources, both sides discussed the multifaceted diversity of Nepal-India relations. “I hope this visit and our high-level meetings will elevate the historical ties between our two countries to new heights,” Foreign Minister Dr Arzu shared on X (formerly twitter) about the meeting.

She has also handed over an invitation from Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to PM Modi for a state visit to Nepal.

Earlier, Minister Dr. Rana had a meeting with his Indian counterpart Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar today. In the meeting held between them this afternoon, bilateral relations and mutual interests as well as energy, trade, infrastructure construction and exchange of support and cooperation were discussed.

Dr Rana earlier wrote in X about the discussion. Government of India  for additional approval of 251 MW of power export from 12 hydropower projects in Nepal to India  during the wet season months on mid-term basis . With this quantum, I am delighted to mention that the Government of India has granted approval for the total hydropower export of 941 MW from Nepal to India so far. I am confident that power sector cooperation between the two countries will take more heights in the future.”

On the invitation of Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar, Minister Dr. Rana arrived in New Delhi on Sunday for an official visit to India. This is his first foreign visit after being appointed as the foreign minister.
