Kathmandu, March 28: Police have arrested KP Sharma Oli, Chairman of CPN UML and former Prime Minister, from his residence in Gundu, Bhaktapur, on Saturday morning.
The arrest follows the implementation of the report submitted by a commission led by Gauri Bahadur Karki, which held Oli responsible for actions taken during the Gen-Z uprising when he was serving as Prime Minister. The commission had recommended legal action against Oli and other officials, including former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak.
The government led by Balen Shah decided on Friday to enforce the report’s recommendations. Acting on that decision, police detained Oli early Saturday.
Further legal proceedings against the former Prime Minister are expected as authorities move ahead with the case. #nepal #GenZ
