Former president Bhandari congratulates newly elected CPN UML leadership

Kathmandu, Dec 20: Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari has extended her congratulations to the newly elected leadership of the Communist Party of Nepal (UML), including Chairperson KP Sharma Oli, office-bearers, and members of the central committee.

KP Sharma Oli was elected as the party chairperson by the 11th National Congress of the CPN (UML), recently held in Kathmandu. This marks the third consecutive term of the septuagenarian leader at the helm of the party.

In a congratulatory message, former President Bhandari—who previously served as Vice-Chairperson of the UML—extended her best wishes to the newly elected leadership and central members. She stated that the party’s selection of its leadership through democratic competition reflects the UML’s organisational maturity and its vibrant practice of the People’s Multiparty System.

Bhandari also expressed her gratitude to all leaders and cadres who participated in and contested the national congress while remaining committed to the party’s ideology, integrity, and established procedures. “In a democracy, competition is a natural and necessary process that further strengthens and revitalises the party,” she noted.

Expressing confidence in the new leadership, Bhandari said it would steer the party forward by reinforcing internal democracy, collective leadership, and organisational unity under the guidance of the People’s Multiparty System. #nepal
