KATHMANDU: Former Sudurpaschim Province Chief Mohan Raj Malla has died of coronavirus infection. According to his nephew Rupak Malla, he died while undergoing treatment in Kathmandu.
“He was diagnosed with coronavirus a week ago,” he said. “He was being treated in Kathmandu. Malla, who died of pneumonia and heart problems, will be buried on Thursday.”
He was appointed as the head of the Sudurpaschim Province under the then Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba. About two years later, in the month of Kartik 2076 BS, the government led by KP Sharma Oli dismissed all the state chiefs including Malla.
Meanwhile, Nepal Army General Dinesh KC has died after being infected with coronavirus. According to the Nepal Army, KC, who was undergoing treatment at the Army Hospital after being diagnosed with coronavirus infection a week ago, died on Thursday morning.
Former Chief of Army Staff Rajendra Chhetri has expressed grief over KC’s death on social media. Chhetri has mentioned that the Nepal Army has lost an invaluable member due to KC’s death.
So far, six people of different ranks of the Nepal Army have died due to the coronavirus infection.
