Martadi : Four people died while as many as four others were critically injured and one went missing when a jeep met with an accident in Karnali Corridor at Bandhu of Himali Rural Municipality-7 in Bajura district on Thursday noon.
The jeep owned by Swami Kartik Yatayat (Se 1 Ja 1064) coming from Dhulachaur to Kolti fell off the Karnali River at around 1:30 pm, killing four passengers on the spot, according to the District Police Office, Bajura’s Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Uddav Singh Bhatt.
The deceased have been identified as Pawam Bhandari, 36, of Himali Rular Municipality-6, jeep driver Ramesh Shahi, 27, of Jagganath Rural Municipality-5, Dinesh Gharti Magar, 33, of Mohanyal Rural Municipality-5 in Kailali district.
The identity of one killed in the accident was yet to be ascertained, shared DSP Bhat. Similarly, the missing has been identified as Sushila BK of Swami Kartik Rural Municipality-4 in Bajura district, police said.
Likewise, the injured are Gamche Lama, 20, of Karmarog Rural Municipality-8 in Mugu district and Tarche Lama of the same place, Saru BK, 22, of Swami Kartik Khapar Municipality-4 and her two-year-old daughter, said DSP Bhat.
The team of Area Police Office, Kolti, Police Post at Piluchaur and locals had joined hand-in-hand in the rescue operation.
Among the four injured, three would be airlifted to Kohalpur Medical Hospital at Nepalgunj for further treatment through the Nepal Army’s helicopter but given the bad weather, it was difficult to fly them to the healthcare facility at Kohalpur, added Chief District Office (CDO) in Bajura, Samir Bhandari.
