Kathmandu, July 14: After the appointment of the CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli as the Prime Minister on Sunday with the backing from the Nepali Congress, the fringe political parties in parliament are expecting the decision from the major ruling parties – NC and UML.
The leaders of the NC and UML have already expressed their views to bring the fringe parties on board though the two largest parties in parliament enjoy a comfortable majority.
Some of the small parties have extended their support to the Oli-led government, while some others are yet to decide whether or not they are joining the government.
Janamat Party, Loktantrik Samajwadi Party (LSP), Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Nepal, Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) and Nagarik Unmukti Party are likely to join the government are but expecting a formal statement from the two major ruling parties of the alliance.
Spokesperson of Janamat Party Dr Sharad Singh Yadav said his party was in a state of wait-and-see. “Discussions will be held only after the decision on the ministry to be given to our party as we have extended our support to the federal government and we will make a decision about the party’s minister,” he added.
Likewise, chief whip of LSP Ram Prakash Chaudhary said his party will decide after holding discussions with the ruling parties. The Loktantrik Samajwadi Party (LSP) on Saturday decided to join the government entrusting party Chairman Mahanta Thakur to select the leader to join the government.
Similarly, Nagarik Unmukti Party seems positive to join the government, leaders shared.
However, general secretary of JSP Mohammad Istiyak Rayi said that discussions were not held in the party meeting about the party’s participation in the new government. #nepal #govt #KPOLI
