KATHMANDU: A full court of the Supreme Court including Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana has decided to pass the regulations on a lottery system for allocation of cases for hearing.

A procedure will be made for this, according to the full court that included 19 judges.

This system will come into operation only after the regulations are published in the Nepal gazette.

The Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs will publish them in the Nepal gazette after their endorsement by CJ Rana.

Judges in the Supreme Court and the Nepal Bar Association, an independent legal institution of the country, have been demanding the implementation of the report submitted by apex court justice Hari Krishna Karki that includes the allocation of hearings on the basis of lottery.

Meanwhile, all types of cases including the habeas corpus ones were heard in the Supreme Court on Thursday.

CJ Rana assigned hearing to benches (one full, seven division and one single bench). He however did not assign any hearing for himself.
