Lalitpur, Oct 18 : Three funeral homes have been constructed at Godavari municipality-3.
The homes were built under the joint aegis of the municipality, ward and local Guthi. Key objective behind the construction of funeral homes is to protect funeral attendees from sun, rainfall and wildlife,
Balmukunda Ghimire, ward chairperson, informed that funeral homes were constructed at Kotar, Lelinchowk and Paudole in Godavari area.
The funeral home at Kotar was constructed at the cost of Rs 800,000. The funeral home was built to provide quality funeral services at par with the Pashupati area.
It has become the dire need of people here with the expansion of urbanization at Godavari and subsequent inflow of migration, said Madhusuddan Poudel, chairperson of Godavari Pond Conservation and Management Committee.
“The building has been helpful for people to carry out funeral rituals in a nearby area. The needy people do not need to wonder for the home”, he added.
Among other works being carried out in Godavari are maintenance of roads, repair of Godavari pond, construction of rest house and public toilets.
