Kathmandu, June 20: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has expressed his hope that the ‘Gandaki Economic Triangle’ project proposed by the government in the budget for the upcoming fiscal year will prove a milestone in Nepal’s socio-economic transformation.
In his response to lawmakers’ queries in today’s session of the House of Representatives, he said the project aims to achieve an integrated development by connecting Bharatpur-Butwal-Pokhara in cooperation with the private sector is expected to result in the multidimensional development of the country. He hoped the project would promote the development of industry, energy, tourism, and agricultural sectors, creating more jobs for the citizens.
He informed the House that the government has pursued a policy of avoiding duplication in the selection of projects at federal, provincial, and local levels and big projects will be implemented by the federal government, middle-scale from the province, and small projects by the local governments, accordingly.
As the Prime Minister said, the implementation of agreements on building the Ramayana and Buddha circuits by connecting religious shrines in Nepal and India is in progress. “The government is committed to enforcing the bilateral agreements on establishing the Ramayana and Buddha circuits by connecting 15 religious sites in Nepal and India.” He added the budget has been ensured for building the Shiva, Buddha, and Kirat circuits as well.
“The government is committed to addressing all types of land-related issues, including those concerning Guthi and public land,” the Prime Minister said.
Likewise, Prime Minister Dahal has pledged to promote more systematic, transparent, and dignified procedures for appointing ambassadors, giving priority to performance-based criteria.
In his replies to queries from lawmakers in a session of the House of Representatives (HoR) today, he said ambassadors will be appointed bearing in mind the interest of the nation in accordance with the constitution and the country’s foreign policies.
The government has adopted a policy of appointing ambassadors on objective grounds., he added.
