Gandaki province implementing 1,400 projects



Myagdi, Dec 3: The Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development and Transport Management of Gandaki Province, Nepal, has prepared an action plan to improve the implementation of the budget for the current fiscal year.

This ministry accounts for more than half of the total budget of the provincial government of Rs 20 billion. Accordingly, it is implementing 1,400 projects related to roads, bridges, buildings and suspension bridges in the current financial year.

The meeting of the ministerial level development action committee and the review of the first quarter held in Ghodepani of Annapoorna rural municipality-6, Myagdi on Saturday came up with an action plan to implement the programmes in a way to spent at least 80 percent of the capital budget in the current fiscal year.

Chief Minister Surendra Raj Pandey, Minister for Physical Infrastructure Development and Transport Management Resham Bahadur Jugjali, Economic Affairs Minister Jit Prakash Ale and members of the directorates, divisions, infrastructure development and transportation management offices of all 11 districts under the ministry were present.

In the last fiscal year 2079-80, the ministry spent only 58 percent of its budget. Minister for Physical Infrastructure Development and Transport Management Jugjali said that the implementation of last year’s budget was not satisfactory due to the election, two changes of government and lack of inter-ministerial coordination. He claimed that it is possible to implement the budget and plan according to the target this year.
