General Manoj Pande returns home



Kathmandu: The Indian Army Chief, General Manoj Pande, returned home today after concluding a successful five-day official visit to Nepal.

Vice Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Bal Krishna Karki and Mrs Manisha Karki bade farewell to General Pande and Mrs Pande at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). General Pande had arrived in Kathmandu on 04 September 2022 on the official invitation extended by COAS General Prabhu Ram Sharma.

General Pande, was conferred the rank of Honorary General of the Nepali Army by President Mrs Bidya Devi Bhandari on 05 September. On the same day, Chief of the Army Staff, General Prabhu Ram Sharma hosted a banquet dinner, in honour of General Pande at the Army Headquarters. Secretaries from the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Former Chiefs of the Army Staff, Nepali Army were also present during the dinner.

General Sharma and General Pande also held discussion on issues of mutual security concerns during the latter’s office call. Both the Generals alluded to the traditional bond of friendship between the two armies and agreed in further strengthening the relationship.

According to a statement released today, during the visit, General Pande paid a courtesy call to the Prime Minister and Defense Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba. He attended various program organized at Army Headquarters, visited Nepali Army Command & Staff College, Shivapuri and Nepali Army’s Mid Command Headquarters in Pokhara.

Nepali Army firmly believes that such high level visits will help to further cement the friendship between two militaries and two countries.
