Kathmandu, May 4: The government and agitating resident doctors have signed a four-point agreement on Saturday.
Following the agreement between the Ministry of Health and Population and the Nepal Medical Association, the agitating resident doctors have withdrawn all their protest activities.
Dr Bhim Prasad Sapkota from the Ministry and Sanjib Tiwari, General Secretary of the Association, signed the deal.
According to the agreement, all resident doctors pursuing a Master’s Degree in medical education at private medical colleges will receive a stipend equivalent to that of an 8th Level Health Officer in government-owned medical institutions. Private medical colleges will be instructed to comply with this decision made by the Medical Education Commission on February 7.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Health and Population will form a task force to investigate and report within 15 working days on issues such as day-off, duty hours, and additional facilities for resident doctors.
