Government seems not interested to implement agreement: Dr KC

Dr Govinda KC

Kathmandu: Prominet doctor and medical education sector reformist in Nepal, Dr. Govinda KC, has accused the top leaders of the major political parties of doing business in the education and health sectors. He has been constantly raising voices and sitting fast-unto-death several times for the reform in medical education sector for a long time.

Organizing a press conference on Thurday Dr KC accused the leaders of political parties of doing business with the mafia and middlemen in the education and health sectors. He also accused the government of creating recruitment centers for their cadres in all health and educational institutions.

Dr KC said, “Recruiting their own cadres in all the health and educational institutions, exploiting the resources of these institutions, and dismantling. Education and health are service oriented sectors. Today’s political parties are treating education and healthcare as for-profit sectors. Even, top leaders are doing business with mafia, middlemen and brokers.”

Stating that even the so-called capitalist countries have been successful in maintaining quality in the education and health sectors without commercialization, KC said that the government here in Nepal have been engaged in causing grief to their own people. He said, “Nepalese socialists go to the polls with popular agenda as giving free education and health to all but after getting two-third majority, they ignore to fulfill their own promises.”

He said that the government was not interested in the implementation of the agreements reached with him and added that continuous vigilance was needed.
