KATHMANDU, Dec 17: The government has decided to withdraw the ordinance recommended for amending the Constitutional Council Act, 2077 BS. The Cabinet meeting held at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar on Thursday evening decided to withdraw the ordinance.
On Wednesday, the two chairpersons of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) agreed to withdraw the ordinance after widespread criticism.
The minister at the Cabinet informed that a new ordinance has been recommended to revive the existing provisions. The information regarding the new development on ordinance will now be sent to the President.
Earlier, President Bidya Devi Bhandari had issued the ordinance on Tuesday on the recommendation of the KP Oli-led government.
