Kathmandu, Nov 11: The government has approved the resignation of Dr. Gunaraj Luitel, the Chairman of the National Insurance Board, from his position. The decision was made during the meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Sunday, November 10, 2024.
While announcing the decisions taken by the Cabinet, government spokesperson and Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, stated that the resignation was accepted in light of Dr. Luitel’s illness, which had prevented him from fulfilling his duties.
Additionally, the Cabinet approved the Customs Duty Rules, 2081 and the Passport (Second Amendment) Rules, 2081. These were suggestions made by the Legislative Committee of the Council of Ministers, which were subsequently approved.
Minister Gurung further mentioned that the government has agreed to contribute USD 75,000 to the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) for agricultural development. This funding is part of a replenishment agreement under the 13th cycle of IFAD’s funding initiative.
The Cabinet also approved a bilateral agreement between Nepal and Sweden for engagement in cooperative approaches related to international mitigation outcomes, with the Ministry of Forests and Environment authorized to sign the agreement on behalf of the government.
Likewise, the Cabinet also granted approval for the land consolidation project in Sajebagar Municipality, Achham District, and also approved the resumption of the land consolidation project in the former Mastamandu-1.
Moreover, the Cabinet endorsed the Regulations for Customs Duty, 2081 and the Passport (Second Amendment) Rules, 2081, after they had been reviewed and discussed by the Legislative Committee.
Other important decisions include the government’s decision to contribute USD 75,000 for agricultural development, the approval of the bilateral agreement with Sweden, and the clearance for a land consolidation project in Achham. #nepal #cabinet
