Kathmandu, Jan 26: The National Information Commission (NIC) has fined chief administrative officer of Siraha Municipality, Baliram Yadav, Rs 15,000 for violating right to information (RTI) Act.
The quasi-judicial body fined Yadav, reasoning that he denied information to the information requester, Parashuram Saha, as per RTI. Chief administrative officer Yadav not only denied information but also ignored the directive from NIC.
Information to this was shared by Information Commissioner Ratna Prasad Mainali in a press release.
The RTI Act has given right to the citizen to seek information of his/her and public concern from public agencies.
