Kathmandu, June 19: The government has formed a task force to seek a resolution to the long-standing disputes surrounding the construction of a cable car project in the historic and religiously significant Pathibhara Temple area, also known as Mukkumlung.
According to Deepa Dahal, Press and Research Officer to the Prime Minister, a secretary-level decision of the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers on Thursday constituted a seven-member task force under the coordination of Bishal Rai.
The task force has been given 15 days to identify the causes of the long-standing disputes and concerns related to the cable car project and to submit recommendations for an amicable resolution.
The committee includes representatives from all major stakeholders, including the coordinator, a senior divisional engineer from the Ministry of Infrastructure Development, a representative of groups opposing the cable car project, and a representative from the Pathibhara Area Development Committee.
Other members include a representative of the company constructing the cable car, an undersecretary from the Ministry of Home Affairs, and the Private Secretary from the Prime Minister’s Secretariat.
The formation of the task force is expected to facilitate dialogue among stakeholders and help address concerns regarding the controversial project while seeking a mutually acceptable solution. #nepal
