KATHMANDU: The government of Nepal has recommended 20 ambassadorial appointments to various 20 countries, including China and Russia.
The positions of ambassador were lying vacant for long. A Cabinet meeting on Thursday evening took a decision to this effect.
The recommended names include eight from the foreign affairs service and 12 from the coalition parties in the incumbent government.
According to sources, Bishnu Pukar Shreshtha, close to UCPN (Maoist Center), has been recommended for China. Likewise, the Cabinet has recommended Milan Tuladhar for Russia, Kailash Kharel for Australia, Sharmila Parajuli Dhakal for Spain, Jyoti Pyakural for South Korea, Prof. Dr. Ram Sharogath Yadav for Denmark, Nawaraj Subedi for Saudi Arabia, Dan Bahadur Tamang for South Africa, Basudev Mishra for Sri Lanka, Dilliraj Poudel for Malaysia and Shanta Rijal for Israel.
Likewise, Ghana Shyam Bhandari, Harish Chandra Ghimire, Tirtha Raj Wagle, Dor Nath Aryal, Sushil Kumar Lamsal, Bharat Kumar Regmi, Nirmal Raj Kafle and Durga Bahadur Subedi from Ministry of Foreign Affairs have also assigned for ambassadors for different countries.
According to constitutional provisions, these newly recommended ambassadors have to face parliamentary hearing. After the hearing and upon arrival of agreemo from the concerned countries, the President will appoint them as ambassadors.
