GSCDM unveils slogan for 6th International Dignified Menstruation Day

Kathmandu, Aug 9: The Global South Coalition for Dignified Menstruation (GSCDM) has unveiled the slogan for the 6th International Dignified Menstruation Day.

The Day will be observed on December 8, 2024, with the theme, “Upholding Dignified Menstruation: Fundamental to Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights,” according to GSCDM founder Dr Radha Paudel.

The GSCDM, Dignified Menstruation North America Chapter and MenEngage Alliance are going to host the Hybrid Conference in Boston, USA in December, she said.

According to Paudel, the theme was selected following a three-month-long dialogue with the member countries.

As Paudel argues, sexual and reproductive rights are achievable provided that menstruation is dignified.

She said over 65 countries in the world have already started observing the Day and efforts continue to press the United Nations to officially recognize it which is observed on the 14th day of the  16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence.

On the initiation of the Radha Paudel Foundation and the GSCDM, the Day has been observed from the government level since 2076 BS in Nepal.

Meantime, the GSCDM has announced two competitions given the celebration of the Day.
