KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) could not proceed with hearing on any case on Tuesday. On Monday, hearing on habeas corpus petitions was held but it could not happen on Tuesday.
Chief Justice CholendraShumsher JBR on Tuesday had announced six benches for hearing habeas corpus petitions. Of them, four were joint benches and two others were single. None of the benches could convene and the hearing could not take place, SC’s Spokesperson BaburamDahal said.
The SC Judges have been avoiding the benches since last Sunday afternoon while seeking response as concerns were raised about the Chief Justice’s claim in power sharing in the Council of Ministers.
The regular business at the SC is stalled for eighth consecutive day today.
Though the full court of the SC was supposed to meet last Monday to resolve the ongoing deadlock, the full court could not meet, further elongating the current situation in the SC.
However, CJ Rana has urged the SC Justices to discharge their duties as per the constitution and laws adding that he was efficient to accomplish his job given by the constitution and laws.
