Historic Milestone: Parliamentary elections conclude peacefully in Nepal

Kathmandu, March 6: The House of Representatives election 2082 (2026) in Nepal has been successfully completed in a peaceful and secure manner across the country, marking a historic achievement for the nation’s democratic process.

According to election authorities, the voting process was conducted smoothly without major incidents. Unlike the 2079 (2022) elections, where three deaths were reported and re-polling had to be conducted in 10 polling centers, the 2082 elections concluded without the need for re-polling or reports of casualties.

Officials stated that no polling centers were captured, and the election process was completed without bloodshed. The polls have also been regarded as free and fair internationally, strengthening confidence in Nepal’s democratic system.

The government mobilized extensive resources to ensure security and smooth logistics. Around 100 shuttle aircraft and helicopters were used for aerial patrol, transportation of ballot papers, election materials, and personnel.

Voting was also successfully conducted in challenging Himalayan regions. Polling took place simultaneously in 2,023 polling centers across 14 Himalayan districts, despite harsh winter conditions.

A large number of security personnel and officials were deployed nationwide to manage the election. The deployment included:

  • 150,000 election police

  • Around 42,000 Nepal Police personnel

  • Approximately 35,000 Armed Police Force personnel

  • About 60,000 Nepal Army personnel

  • Nearly 215,000 civil servants

Authorities also reported that nearly 100 percent of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) discovered during the election period were safely handled, preventing potential threats.

Officials described the peaceful completion of the elections as a major democratic success for Nepal, demonstrating improved election management, security coordination, and public participation across the country. #nepal #election
