Home Minister discusses with transport entrepreneurs for smooth services



Kathmandu, Oct 2: Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak discussed with transport entrepreneurs about ways to ensure smooth vehicular movement in the wake of approaching festivals.

He held a discussion with the National Federation of Nepal Transport Entrepreneurs and Transport Entrepreneurs’ Organization about the impact of landslides and floods on the national highways and roads that disrupted vehicular movement in different places. Efforts to resume the blocked roadways were shared in the discussion.

On the occasion, the Minister said the concerned ministries were at work to resume smooth vehicular movement by repairing the damaged roads. Both Traffic Police and Nepal Police were mobilized in the vulnerable areas including Jhyaplekhola, Lekhak reminded.

The Federation was for relief to the transport workers who were stranded at Roshi area of BP Highway amidst the floods and landslides that damaged the road and halted traffic, said Senior Vice President of the Federation, Saroj Sitaula. The discussion held at the Home Ministry concluded in a positive manner, he added.

Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak directed the bodies concerned to immediately provide relief to the transport workers stranded along the roads. “We also talked how the transportation could be ensured safe during the festivals,” Sitoula said.
