Kathmandu, April 2: Home Minister Sudhan Gurung on Thursday presented three ordinances in the first meeting of the first session of the House of Representatives (HoR).
The ordinances tabled in the lower house of the Federal Parliament include the Citizenship (First Amendment) Ordinance, 2082, the House of Representatives Member Election (First Amendment) Ordinance, 2082, and the Nepal Special Service (Third Amendment) Ordinance, 2082.
The amendments introduced through these ordinances aim to ensure proportional inclusion of population groups in the closed list under the proportional representation system, in line with Article 84(2) of the Constitution of Nepal.
The previous government had issued the House of Representatives Member Election (First Amendment) Ordinance to facilitate updates to the voter list following the announcement of the March 5 HoR elections.
Minister Gurung stated that the Nepal Special Service (Third Amendment) Ordinance was introduced to bring the National Investigation Department under the Ministry of Home Affairs from the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.
Condolence motion passed
During the meeting, the House also passed a condolence motion over the deaths of former lawmakers Rishikesh Gautam, Mohammad Aftab Alam, Krishna Kumari Shrestha, Amod Prasad Upadhyay, Homnath Dahal, and National Assembly member Baldev Bohara, who passed away at different times. #nepal #sudhanGurung
