Home Ministry says by-poll security action plan prepared

Kathmandu, Nov 1 : An action plan related to the security during the upcoming by-election scheduled for November 30 has been prepared.

According to the Home Ministry, it is committed to ensuring full and efficient security provisions during the election and the action plan was prepared by dividing polling centers into several categories on the basis of their security sensitivity.  

The Ministry today discussed about the plan in a meeting held in the presence of Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa. The plan was presented during the meeting.

The plan presented the draft of integrated mobilisation of Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and security force from the National Investigation Department in view of the election security.

Home Minister Thapa, Home Secretary Prem Kumar Rai, Inspector General of Nepal Police Sarbndra Khanal, Inspector General of the Armed Police Force (APF) Shailendra Khanal, Chief of the National Investigation Department, Ganesh Adhikari, Lieutenant General of Nepal Army  Gaurav Tandul  attended the meeting.

In the meeting, the Home Minister described the security action plan as being good and instructed the bodies concerned to further refine it as per the need and based on security sensitivity and the experience from the past elections.

He also directed the security bodies to make all the preparations required for conducting the elections in a free, fair, peaceful and fear-free environment.
