Hong Kong defeats Nepal by 2 runs



Kathmandu, March 10: Nepal has lost to Hong Kong by 2 runs in the Women’s T20 International Cricket Tournament underway in Uganda.

In the match held at the Entebbe Cricket Oval in Uganda earlier today, chasing the target of 101 runs set by Hong Kong for victory Nepal scored only 98 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.

Captain Indu Verma was stop scorer for Nepal with 32 runs followed by Pooja Mahato who scored 19 while Bindu Rawal scored 14, Roma Thapa scored an unbeaten 13 and Sana Prabin scored 10 runs.

For Hong Kong, Mariko Hill took two wickets and Siu Miwai and Chan Ka Ying took one wicket each. Earlier, put into bat first after losing the toss, Hong Kong scored 100 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs. For Hong Kong, Natasha Mills scored 35, Mariko Hills contributed 21 and Yashmin Daswani scored 11 not out.

For Nepal, captain Indu Verma and Ishwori Bista took two wickets each, while Pooja Mahato and Rachana Kumari Chaudhary took one wicket each.

This is the second defeat for Nepal in the tournament that has so far played three matches. Nepal lost to Namibia by 6 wickets in the first match and won by 1 wicket against home team Uganda in the second match.#nepal #sport#rss
