KATHMANDU: Pleading on behalf of the Prime Minister and the Speaker in the writ petition filed against the dissolution of the House of Representatives has come to an end.
Taking part in the hearing at the Supreme Court today, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s legal advisor Baburam Dahal said the Prime Minister had the right to go to elections as per the constitutional provisions, after being not allowed to complete a five-year term.
“A Prime Minister with two-thirds majority was not allowed to work, hence the HoR had to be dissolved,” he said.
Likewise, defending the Prime Minister, advocates Bishnu Maya Bhusal and Ram Chandra Gautam said the King had the right to dissolve the house in the previous Constitutions which was now with the Prime Minister in the prevalent Constitution.
