HoR session postponed, rescheduled for 1:00 pm Tuesday

Meeting of House of Representatives in 2023.

Kathmandu, July 31 : The House of Representatives (HoR) meeting, which was originally scheduled for today, has been postponed until Tuesday.

Prior to making this decision, Speaker Devraj Ghimire held discussions with chief whips and whips of various political parties in a bid to resolve the obstructions in the House proceedings.

The meeting has been rescheduled for 1:00 pm on Tuesday, according to Federal Parliament Secretary-General Dr. Bharat Raj Gautam.

It is worth noting that the main opposition party, CPN (UML), continues to obstruct the House proceedings, demanding the establishment of a high-level committee to investigate the recent gold confiscation case from Sinamangal, Kathmandu on July 19.

The lower house session today was supposed to be informed about the suspension of Top Bahadur Rayamajhi as a HoR member, and to be proposed to give an approval for sending the ‘Nepal University Bill, 2080 BS’ to the respective committee for clause-wise deliberations.

Additionally, Minister for Law, Justice, and Federal Affairs, Dhanraj Gurung, was scheduled to propose the meeting to add provisions in the working procedures of the Commission on the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the Commission on the Investigation on the Enforced Disappeared.

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal also engaged in talks with UML Chair KP Sharma Oli on Sunday and Monday to find a way out to the House obstruction, but a substantive agreement has not been reached yet. RSS
