Kathmandu, Feb 2: Member of House of Representatives Arun Kumar Chaudhary of Nagarik Unmukti Party has been arrested.
MP Chaudhary, who is on a fugitive list, was arrested this afternoon from Tikapur, Kailali, Spokesperson of Nepal Police, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Posharaj Pokharel said.
Chaudhary was elected a member of the House of Representatives from Kailali constituency No. 2. He will be presented before the Dhangadhi District Court on Friday, the police said.
It may be noted that the Kailali District Court had sentenced three people including MP Chaudhary to 6 months in jail in a case of arson.
Meanwhile, the President of Nagarik Unmukti Party, Mrs Ranjita Shrestha Chaudhary, accused Tharu of seeing only criminals. Ranjitha made this statement after the police arrested party MP Arun Kumar Chaudhary.
Ranjita wrote a status on the social network Facebook and said that the government does not want their support. “You don’t need our support for a government that only sees criminals,” she wrote.
