Kathmandu, June 5: In the ICC T-20 Men’s World Cup cricket tournament, Nepal lost to the Netherlands by 6 wickets in the first match.
Nepal presented a winning target of 107 runs to the Netherlands for victory. The Netherlands achieved that goal by losing four wickets in 18.4 overs. Max O’Dowd scored an unbeaten 54 for the Netherlands. He hit one six and four fours while playing 48 balls.
Similarly, Vikramjit Singh scored 22 runs, Sebrand Engelbrecht scored 14 runs and Bas de Leed scored 11 unbeaten runs. On the bowling side, Sompal Kami, Dipendra Singh Airee and Abinash Bohara took one wicket each for Nepal.
Earlier, after winning the toss Netherlands invited Nepal for the batting in the bouncy pitch of Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas. Nepal lost all wickets in 19.2 overs and managed to score 106 runs only.
Captain Rohit Kumar Paudel top scored 35 runs for Nepal. He hit five fours off 37 balls. Similarly, Karan KC added 17 runs in 12 balls. Gulsan Jha scored 14 runs and Anil Shah scored 11 runs.
In terms of bowling, Tim Pringle and Logan van Week of the Netherlands took three wickets each and Bas de Leed and Paul van Meekeren took two wickets each. Pringle was later declared as Man of the Match.
Nepal will now play its second match against Sri Lanka in Florida, USA on Jestha 29, 2081.
