Kathmandu, Nov 6: Nepal emerged victorious against Thailand in today’s match of the ICC Women’s U-19 World Cup Asia Qualifiers.
Nepal secured a 67-run win in the opening match held at the Seven Cricket Stadium in the United Arab Emirates.
Thailand, chasing Nepal’s total of 103 runs, could only manage 35 runs in 11.4 overs, losing all their wickets.
Rachana Kumari Chaudhary was the standout bowler fro Nepal, taking 4 wickets, while Captain Puja Mahato and Riya Sharma claimed two wickets each.
Additionally, Karishma Gurung and Manisha Kumari Upadhyay each contributed with one wicket.
Batting first after losing the toss, Nepal posted a total of 102 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.
Puja Mahato led the scoring for Nepal with 35 runs, supported by Simana KC and Soni Pakhrin who contributed 19 runs each.
The UAE, Nepal, Kuwait, and Thailand are the participating teams in the Qualifiers, scheduled to continue until November 14.
The top team among the four will earn a spot in the World Cup. Nepal will face Kuwait in their next match tomorrow. #cricket #nepal
