Indian Embassy hands over Galainth Secondary School building in Darchula



Kathmandu, Feb 7: The School and Office Buildings of Shree Galainath Secondary School, Darchula built with Government of India’s financial assistance at the project cost of Rs 27.3 million under ‘Nepal-India Development Cooperation’.

The school building was inaugurated jointly by Mr Bijay Singh Dhami, Mayor, Shailyashikhar Municipality, Darchula and Shri Avinash Kumar Singh, Counsellor, Embassy of India, Kathmandu. Political representatives, government officials and social workers were also present on this occasion.

The Government of India’s grant under ‘Nepal-India Development Cooperation’ was utilized for the construction of the school, office buildings and other allied facilities. The project was taken up as a High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP) and was implemented through Shailyashikhar Munici-pality, Darchula, the embassy said in a statement.

During the hand over ceremony, Mayor of Shailyashikhar Municipality, Chairperson of School Management Committee and other stakeholders appreciated the continued developmental support of the Government of India in upliftment of the people of Nepal. The infrastructure created would be useful in providing education to students of Shree Galainath Secondary School in Darchula. It would also help create an improved environment for learning and contribute to the overall development of the education sector in the far-western region.

The school was established in the year 1960 with contribution of the people belonging to Boharigaun village. The school is providing education to students of Class of Early Childhood Development to plus two (10+2) level. This school is affiliated with the National Examination Board (NEB) and has around 370 students, 55% of which are girls.

As close neighbours, India and Nepal are engaged in wide-ranging and multi-sectoral cooperation. The implementation of HICDPs reflects the continued support of the Government of India in bolstering the efforts of the Government of Nepal in upliftment of its people by augmenting infrastructure in priority sectors, the Embassy said. #nepal #india #HICDP
