‘International postal service will resume soon’



 

Kathmandu: The Department of Postal Services will resume international postal services soon.  The department has discussed, coordinated and corresponded with international airline companies and stakeholders for the operation of international postal service within a month.

Director General of the Department Indu Ghimire informed that the Department has decided to resume the services by using advanced communication technologies.

The department has been delivering parcels, goods and letters through Express Postal Services in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Kaski, Morang, Dhanusha, Bara, Rupandehi, Banke and Kailali districts in one day.

Likewise, the Department delivers goods/parcels in Parbat, Syangja, Tanahun, Sunsari, Saptari, Siraha, Mahottari, Rautahat, Kapilvastu, Nawalparasi, Chitwan, Bardia, Surkhet, Kanchanpur, Mugu, Dolpa and Jumla districts within two days and the remaining districts within three days.

Kedar Prasad Pradhan, President of Nepal Philatelic Society, emphasized that since Post Office operates postage service at a cheaper rate than other companies, the department should promote it effectively. He said that every activity should be transparent to make the department more effective and reliable.

Former Secretary Bhuvaneshwar Pradhan emphasized on the need to encourage the employees along with the end of corruption to develop the department as a reliable and trustworthy organization.

Bishal Raj Gautam, Administrative officer of the Advertisement Board, suggested to move forward by making a long-term plan to make the postal service more effective.

Agreements have been made with Yeti Airlines, Nepal Airlines, Shree Airlines and Buddha Airlines to transport postage within the country by air.

Director General Ghimire announced the plan to reactivate and revive Nepal’s old, reliable and popular institution, Postal Service. The department is planning to carry out some improvement works to transport personal and institutional EMS, parcels, letters through post.
