International Youth Conference on STI from October 21



Kathmandu, Oct 16 : The government will be organising an ‘International Youth Conference on Science, Technology and Innovation’ as it seeks to enthuse youth to passionately engage in research and innovation.

The conference to be jointly organised by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) and National Youth Council first time is set to be held on October 21-23 in Kathmandu.

The NAST shared information about this through a press meet here today. The event will also provide a policy feedback to the government for creating conducive environment to mainstream the Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) in the national development by optimal mobilisation of youth of Nepal, it is said.

According to the NAST, the event expects to bring enthusiasts in Nepal in STI, influential Nepalese or foreigner working in STI sector and some key Nepali stakeholders of the sector together for their inspiring presentation in different 18 thematic areas related to STI.

As said by National Youth Council vice chair Madhav Dhungel, it will have the participation of around 300 scientists.

Sixty-five paper presentations on the topics like water and energy, tourism, information and communication technology and economics will be made during the conference to be held under the theme of “research and innovation for prosperity”.
