Kathmandu, Sept 18: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has pointed out resorting to violence as meaningless.

“Any sort of activities provoking violence and loots under any pretext is not tolerable,” said PM Oli while laying the foundation stone for a Federal Parliament building in Singha Durbar today.

“Now, what violence is taking place for,” he asked. Stressing the completion of the project within the deadline, he said, “There will be no compromise on quality work.”

No additional budget would be added if the project fails to meet completion deadline, he said.

“There is no need to add additional budget as all estimated costs are specified in the project agreement. The increasing trend of unnecessarily adding budget for a project should be corrected.”

Expressing his dissatisfaction at failure to implement commitments to build a Federal Parliament building within two years of his being elected Prime Minister, he pledged to have the project to be ready during his stint as the Prime Minister.

Admitting to slow-paced development activities, the Prime Minister said they would be expedited keeping in mind constructive criticism from the people. He also said campaigns against corruption would be launched.

On the occasion, Minister for Urban Development Mohammad Istiyak Rai said the project would meet the three year’s deadline.

The ministry’s Secretary Madhusudan Adhikari and Director General of the Department of Urban Development and Building Construction, Maniram Gelal were also present on the event. The project costs Rs 9.6 billion.
