KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that it is stubborn to imagine that he has done anything to tarnish the image of the judiciary.

In a written reply to the court’s contempt case on Thursday, Prime Minister Oli said he had high respect for the court. “It’s hard to imagine that I, who have been fighting for democracy, the rule of law and an independent judiciary for more than five decades, have done anything to undermine the dignity of the judiciary,” he said.

Prime Minister Oli has also said that the writ petitioner’s claim that the statement was made in a way that violates fundamental rights is baseless.

He said that it was objectionable to file a case of contempt of court, saying that it was not happening or that the word was spoken in one sense or another.

In another case of contempt of judiciary, four former Chief Justices also submitted their written response after visiting the Supreme Court recently. They also argued that the constitution does not allow the Prime Minister to dissolve the House of Representatives in a normal situation.
