Bhadrapur, Jan 4: Jhapa Energy, a private solar power producer based in Jhapa district, has sold electricity worth Rs 47.1 million to the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) within five months.

According to Lal Bahadur Sanwa Limbu, chairperson of the company’s board of directors, the company generated 6.52 million units of electricity from its 10-megawatt solar power project during the period from Shrawan to mid-Mangsir of the fiscal year 2082/83. The project is located at Buluchowk, Ward No. 4 of Shivasatakshi Municipality.

The NEA purchases electricity generated by Jhapa Energy at a rate of Rs 7.30 per unit. The company has been producing electricity commercially for the past two years.

The solar power project has been established on 22 bigha of land at Buluchowk, where 21,600 solar panels have been installed. Electricity generated from the project is transmitted to the NEA’s Buluchowk substation—located within one kilometre of the site—and integrated into the national power grid.

Jhapa Energy sold solar power worth Rs 50 million to the NEA in the fiscal year 2080/81. Chairman Limbu stated that sales increased to Rs 90 million in the fiscal year 2081/82. #solar #nepal #NEA
