Karnali Assembly: Deadlock ends after nine-point agreement with Congress

Yam Lal Kandel

Surkhet, July 1: The deadlock in the provincial assembly has ended following a nine-point agreement with the opposition party Nepali Congress.

With this the seventeenth meeting of the fourth session of the Karnali Provincial Assembly has been held.

The Nepali Congress had been blocking the House saying that the annual budget allocation of the Karnali Province government for the fiscal year 2024/25 was unbalanced, unfair and disproportionate.

According to the agreement, under the programme allocated by the provincial government, except for agriculture, conditional, continuous and maintenance, it has been decided to adopt a policy of not implementing low-budget projects of Rs.1.5 million and Rs.3 million for building and road construction, Assembly Secretary Jeevraj Budhathoki said.
