Surkhet, Oct 10 : Preparations are underway to develop 50 villages of Karnali state as model villages within next three years.
The villages of Surkhet, Dailekh and Jajarkot districts of Karnali state to be developed as model villages with facilitation of Model Society Surkhet and partnership of local levels.
Executive Director of Model Society, Surkhet, Lal Bahadur Gharti Magar, said that Simta rural municipality, Chaukune rural municipality, Chingad rural municipality, Panchapuri municipality, Gurvakot municipality of Surkhet, Bheri municipality, Chhedagad municipality, Kuse rural municipality, Junichande rural municipality of Jajarkot and Thatikandh rural municipality and Gurans rural municipality of Dailekh would be developed as model villages.
He said that fourteen management committees have so far been formed in three districts for the same. Responsibiility has been given to the concerned local levels to select villages to develop them as model villages.
The villages selected for model villages have to fulfill 102 assistant indexes making nine main indexes as the basis every year.
Education, health, nutrition, drinking water and sanitation, livelihood, environment protection, tourism promotion, empowerment and rights are among the nine main indexes.
